Irvine Park

On Saturday we decided we'd have a fun family day and go up to Irvine Park. The morning started well. Julia had been quiet for a while when I heard her in the bathroom calling for my help. I found her sitting on the counter like this: Ok, not exactly like that. She had put on the lipstick and blush all by herself and needed help with the mascara. So I helped her. Isn't she adorable? Unfortunately, the mascara didn't wipe off very well since Julia kept trying to escape and so for the rest of the day she had dark eyes. We stopped by Ben's work for a few minutes since he has his first big deadline tomorrow. I wish him lots of luck since he is feeling quite a lot of pressure. Then we headed out to Orange. (You would think they would call it Orange Park since it's in Orange, not Irvine). We were going to take Julia on the pony rides, but it was such a rip off! It was $4 for one ride around the ring. One very short ride around a very small ring I should say. So we opted for the train instead. By the time Julia has outgrown her obsession with trains, we will make sure she has ridden as many trains as possible. It was also expensive at $4 for anyone over 12 months old so I let Ben take the girls. He said that Julia really liked it. After that we walked over to see how much the paddle boats were since they had seen them on the train ride and Julia thought a boat ride would be cool. Tragically, it was $14 for 30 minutes. Sorry Julia. We went to the little zoo instead. That was only $2 for Ben and me. I can afford that. Julia really liked this zoo. The cages are really small so the animals were all easy to see. Julia thought it was awesome, but I couldn't help feeling really sorry for the animals. If you look on the roof of the building you can kind of see the bald eagle. That was one of Ben's favorites. She liked the raccoons and the coyotes the best. The coyotes quite intrigued by her at first and followed her as she walked back and forth. Ben then commented to Julia that they wanted to eat her. She then took her stick and started hitting at the coyotes saying, "bad wolf, no eat!" We had to take the stick away and go feed the goats before she calmed down. Nice one honey. By this time Adria was pretty tired so we didn't get a picture of Julia feeding the goats (Ben was holding a screaming Adria and I was trying to keep all of Julia's fingers out of the goat's teeth), but she thought it was really cool. Ben was awesome and took me to TGI Friday's for dinner. It was soooooo yummy! Even Julia liked it, which is great because she has been a difficult eater lately. All in all, it was a really good weekend.
